Kitty Charm Farm is an animal rescue primarily focused on Cats. Cats have it rough on Maui. Humans brought cats to Maui and humans have also left them behind to fend for themselves.  

There are thousands of cats living on the streets, at beaches, behind businesses, under houses, in gulches…. all simply trying to survive. Some cats are born there, but the sad reality is that most of these cats have been dumped.

People who dump cats don’t like them in their yard or work-place. So they trap and dump them elsewhere, often resulting in tragedy. Gilbert was attacked by a dog. KCF provided lifesaving reconstructive surgery. This one-eyed sweetie is now living his best life as an indoor only cat in Seattle.

However, with our island in a major housing crisis, sometimes the people dumping these cats are their own guardians! People who have lost their housing and/or who have to leave the island over finances...

Sometimes these people attempt to choose locations where they think they can visit & feed them. That is IF their cats survive the displacement. Statistically, dumped cats have a very low chance of survival.

It is heartbreaking that anyone would feel forced to this point. Dumping cats is classified as animal cruelty, which was recently made a felony in Hawaii, punishable up to 5 years in jail.
